William Shakespeare Introduction
Shakespeare wrote an impressive number of plays in his lifetime. He spanned the Tudor and early Jacobean periods, and lived at a time of enormous social and political change.
Many of his plays are studied at high school and college level all over the world due to the timeless quality of his themes and concerns. In particular, he wrote some of the most memorable tragedies of all time, including Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, Othello, and of course Hamlet.
In this area we will explore the man himself, and his remarkable plays.
