Literary Themes - The Theme of School

1. Choose one or more of the texts you have studied. What attitudes to education have you found in the characters about whom you have been reading, and how has the writer helped you to understand their experiences of education and the ways they have been influenced by it?  You should include some or all of the following:

  • The portrayal of influential characters
  • Vivid settings
  • The use of language and viewpoint.

Write down the name of the text(s) you are dealing with.

2. Choose one or more of the texts you have studied. What views or impressions does the writer intend you to form of school or education in your chosen text(s)?   You should write about:
What the writer says about school and/or about education

  • The language used in the text(s)
  • The stance or viewpoint of the writer
  • How these views are presented.

Write down the name of the text(s) you are dealing with.
